Wind-rated engineered installations and work at height on a building are safety-critical and belong with a sign installer. Tie through every grommet, not just the corners. Wind load is what destroys banners, and a banner fixed at four points becomes a sail. On an exposed site, wind slits or a mesh material reduce the load considerably — ask before ordering rather than after the first storm.
Seasons rather than weeks, if it is hung properly. The vinyl itself is weatherproof; what kills banners is wind tearing the grommets out and UV slowly fading the print. A sheltered north-facing wall will hold a banner in good condition far longer than an exposed roadside fence.
